What if the park had only been these type of more gentle dinosaurs?

Well, Hammond and co felt it wouldn't offer enough if they did that. Frankly imo, Vilocirapters and Diloposaurs weren't neccesary as most people don't even know about them. I never heard of them til this movie was made.

Face it, the public wants T-Rexes! If they'd started the park with just the herbivores, then at least 80% of the visitors would either ask where the T-Rexes are, or if they knew there weren't any, would ask when the T-Rexes would be coming.

Hell, the venture capitalists who funded the place probably put T-Rexes in the contract.

yes but one of the main attractions was the feeding ground for the T-Rex.
i'd pay to see that goat get snatched!
