Stop with the legalistic arguments

Frankly, Daniel was completely within his rights to violate the custody agreement. Who's to say how often he can see his own children? Sure, he wasn't the most responsible parent in the world, but while he was getting a better job and living space, he had every right to dress up as Mrs. Doubtfire to see his children. Miranda was a complete psychopath who deserved to be deported from the country, for viciously spiting Daniel like she did. No matter what he offered, it was always "no". Never did she see anything he did objectively.

The deleted scene where he comes to the house and they fight after she finds out the truth says it all. They start arguing over which one of them the kids loves more, and the older daughter shouts at them "I hate you BOTH!" and the son agrees.

They were both wrong. He wasn't wrong for wanting to be with his kids, or for wanting them to have fun, but he was wrong for his previous immaturity. She was wrong for depriving him of time with his kids and for being an overly militant authoritarian in general. And for all of the trouble they were both causing, it was really the kids who suffered the consequences.

Should i say amen

But you can't forget that he was on a court order that said he could only have supervised visits on Saturdays

A judge. Hence the ruling.

Miranda was a complete psychopath who deserved to be deported from the country,

No.

Seize the moment, 'cause tomorrow you might be dead.

I agree with PreachCaleb

EVERY time he offered to watch his OWN children, she told him "no". I get that he wasn't the most responsible parent, but he was not a murderer or rapist! She didn't care how upset she made the poor man despite how much he wanted to see his own children. Screw the court order, what he did was right. And to make matters worse, she pulled the "I'll think about it" *beep* at one point, because she was a gutless coward who didn't have the balls to be honest that she wanted to see him suffer. If I was Daniel, let's just say I'd be a lot more vindictive towards her.

reply

And if you were Daniel, there'd probably be some jail time.

Sorry, just because Miranda was a bit over the top is no reason to disobey a court order.

Daniel was lucky the worst the judge ordered was a psychiatric evaluation and not a prison sentence.

reply

But it was a completely ridiculous court order. I understand that Daniel should have gotten a job and disciplined the kids once in a while, but why does that mean he only gets to see them once a week until then? Like I said, just because something's a law, doesn't mean it's valid. And no, Miranda should have been arrested and deported for her actions. The worst part is, she doesn't care how miserable she's making the poor man. I agree that he needed to change some aspects of his parenting style to benefit his children, but like I said, he wasn't outright dangerous to them. She should've been charged with reckless emotional negligence. If I was one of her children, I would have disowned her immediately, after she divorced Daniel. There is no forgiveness after you cross the line like that, especially without their consent.

The worst part is, the children just accept this, like anything Miranda did is forgivable. Moving on is a lie perpetuated by our overly tolerant culture to just accept any ill someone has waged against you. They should have NEVER spoken to her again and refused to ever move on from the divorce. Society mandates we do, so the best answer would be to reject what society has tried to force feed down our throats. If anything, the kids should have violated the visitation order as well.

reply

Nah. Miranda didn't do anything illegal.

Honestly, the only ridiculous thing is how lenient the judge was on Daniel at the end. It could've been far worse. He could've lost all visitation rights.

reply

That's not how it works. You violate a court order, you go to jail and get fined as well.
