Jim Carrey

I think movie would have been even more awesome, if Jim Carrey was Robin in this movie. Cary Elwes did a good job too tho..

He would've played it too 'goofy', rather than the straight-man he's portrayed as in this movie.

Agree, Jim Carrey is funny but would have gone to far with the role.

Carey Elwes was the perfect choice and is the only one I could see in this role.

reply

I agree.

No! No, no, no, no, NO! Bad idea! You got into the sacramental wine, didn't you?

Ooh I love Jim and think he's very talented but I feel like Cary was perfect for this Robin.

reply

Uhm... I love Carrey, but, no.

reply

Would've had to rewrite the minor joke... "unlike some other Robin Hoods, I can speak with an English accent."

reply

^ That's a bingo!

Carrey is in my top actors (because of Ace Ventura) but he couldn't do this like Cary.

Jim is a great comedian, but he wasn't right for this role. The reason why Mel Brooks' parodies are still loved today, while most modern parodies are hated, is that Mel knew that not everything in this genre needs to be treated as a joke. His movies weren't just spoofs, but also homages. He clearly asked Cary to act as if he was playing the character in a straight-forward adaptation. I'm sure he chose him because he played a similar character in THE PRINCESS BRIDE.

“Mel Brooks’ parodies are still loved today”???

😂😂😂😂😂🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

Yes they are. My favorite movie comedy will ALWAYS be "Young Frankenstein".
