I know I'm damn near two years late but I believe it was because he wasn't getting high yet. I don't know if it's true for all but I knew a guy that would become abusive after he would snort cocaine.

I think it was because Lorraine wasnt important enough to hit. Tina Turner is what made him famous and was bringing in the money. He needed her to stay in line. Lorraine tried killing herself and acted crazy and annoying half the time. He would never be seen out in public with he (like in the media). Tina was different. Even when she wasnt being controlled by him, she acted "proper" in public.

Yeah they didn't show him snorting coke till after he married Tina.

I read somewhere that Ike only became abusive once he got hooked on cocaine, and that the reason he started it was because someone tricked him into doing it to sabotage him. I don't know if it's all true. But from the movie it was hinted that early Ike was a womanizer.

Lorraine on the other hand was probably put through a lot of hell with Ike, however who knows the real story. For all we know Lorraine could have been a foreshadow to how Tina was going to end up in the movie.

I'm thinking he probably did and it just didn't get in the film. From books I've read, Ike mistreated everyone around him. Something had her shaken up, I mean, people don't attempt suicide for no reason.

How old was she when she started singing with Ike?
