What's with the rubbish music changes in the British version? 'For He's a Jolly Good Fellow' on the card scene ruined the film...
shareUm... it was originally 'For He's a Jolly Good Fellow', then changed to 'Happy birthday for the US dvd release.

It also has been changed in the European version (zone 2, Languages French and English). The card plays "Happy birthday to you".
shareI have a UK VHS release from years ago, and I'm pretty sure that it's 'Happy Birthday to You' in that one.

I find the thing that makes these films funny is that are very British specific & reference things that we recognise. I imagine for foreign release, somethings may have had to be changed.
shareI would like to see original references and nuances left alone and NOT changed for foreign markets. Songs and words don't need to be changed.

shareI agree. As an American Anglophile, I enjoy the Britishisms, even if I don't understand everything. So I check it out!
Incidentally, "Happy Birthday To You" is under US copyright, and they had to pay a royalty (to Michael Jackson, I think).
