Monica and Andrew are always calm angels, but Tess seems to be very irritable and aggressive in her behavior. Why would the producers make her like that? I would never expect an angel to be always angry.

Tess wasn't always angry. She was, for the most part, firm but not angry. It's clear the makers didn't want all the angels to be happy and calm. I think it's unique as it shows a different personality in them. So while we may dislike Tess for her attitude at times, it helped make her different from Andrew and Monica. Besides, she still came off as caring and that's something all the angels under God have no matter the actual attitude, and that's all that matters. We did not need to have Tess be nice and gentle 100% like her co-workers.

I was going to start a new thread with this very thing. Tess does have an attitude and has very angry pursed lips constantly. She seems very rebellious, not at all like that of a subservient angel. She comes across as being at loggerheads with authority and not the type to be obeying orders from the ultimate authoritarian.
I notice she is really aggressive with her speech when addressing males. She treats females with more gentle care : "Hey angel child"
Because black women are always stereotyped as the angry, sassy, neck rolling sistas. We can't catch a break even when we're Angels lol

Angels have their faults too and Tess’s is lack of patience. I’m watching the series again and in an early episode she said pretty much just that. She also says “Anger is not that bad. You just have to be careful where you put it.” I liked the quote so I wrote it down.
