they killed Dermot Mulroney! Come on WTF was that!

I think the filmmakers wanted to kill off a likable character to make Kid Jarrett a more convincing villain. They didn't want to kill any of the 4 female leads, so the next most important character was the unlucky choice.

I agree with that. One thing about Bad Girls is all the women were abused by men ( except Eileen( Andie MacDowell)), as well as being characters who are outdoor types ( again except Eileen). So they are not destined to live with regular people ( Cody with Josh included). It is set up for Eileen( who really belongs on a ranch since that is what she knows), to be the one to settle down with William on the ranch.

It was always going to be a trade off: him for Frank. And since he killed Frank, catharsis demanded that he had to die for the trade off to be complete.

Come on, how many times were women just there to be damsels in distress and get killed to make the "hero" go on a revenge spree in westerns? Well turnabout is fair play.
