Was it a mistake to have Axel go back to Beverly Hills again?

I mean, I know that the franchise is called BEVERLY HILLS COP, but by the third movie, Axel Foley isn't exactly a fish out of water. And it's getting awfully coincidental whenever one of his friends (Mikey, Captain Bogomil, Inspector Todd) gets shot, it all leads back to Southern California. I'm fascinated by an an earlier idea of sending Axel to England and having him team up with John Cleese as his Scotland Yard counterpart. Apparently, it was scrapped because the plot sounded too similar to the movie Black Rain.

I don't think it was a mistake in my opnion. However Axel going to England would've not been a bad idea.

Never knew of that, if that was around late 80's or early 90's I'd of loved to of seen that. The title would of probally sucked though, Beverly Hills Cop...in London!

I think it would have been better if the Rosewood had to go to Detroit it would still fit the title Rosewood actually being a BHC and it would keep in with the fish out of water theme.
