In the February 1990 issue of Playboy, Eddie referenced one of Steven's screenplays when being asked why he didn't do the threequel straight away: "Two years ago, I would have done it for a great big check; now I need a really great script and a good check. You know what I thought would have been the ideal Beverly Hills Cop III? Die Hard. Bruce Willis did a real good job. It's one of those movies I wish I was in."
