A thought to discuss.

I watched this video in psychology class and one of the points my professor made he thought was kinda creepy was the fact that Robert's daughter was the only girl he ever truly loved.

He thinks based on Robert's history, there could be some pedophillic connection to it. But I think it's because his daughter is the only girl in the world who truly loved Robert back. And it wasn't because Robert was this famous artist with alot of money to Sophie. But in the eyes of Sophie, Robert was simply Daddy. She was able to love Robert for being a daddy.

When the *beep* did we get Ice Cream?

Your professor is full of s***t. Does he have any kids?

If you read any of Crumb's comics, Sophie as a child is often portrayed as cold and distant, even unloving to him. Also look at how she rubs at her face after Crumb kisses her. Crumb is hardly being 'loved back' is he?

Crumb's love for her is that of a parent, nothing more than that.

Does your professor not think that Crumb's love for Sophie may have something to do with having to make up with lost time for Jessie?

Crumb is what I call an 'emotional cripple'. He was/is obsessed with sex and denied love himself. That doesn't make it right, but its true.
