One thing I do not understand about ending...
Cindy is Tom’s trusted secretary/assistant throughout the movie. They seem to have a friendly and professional relationship. The only questionable action we see is one time when Tom is speaking with Cindy he pats her on the butt with a stack of papers.
During Tom’s sexual harassment hearing Cindy shows up and gives testimony against Tom. Cindy says that Tom has been unprofessional with her and pats her on the butt and she doesn’t say anything because he is her boss.
At the end of the movie Cindy apologizes to Tom for providing testimony against him. Tom smiles and says he completely understands. Then Cindy proceeds to smack Tom on his butt and everything is happy go lucky.
I’m just confused. If Cindy is so bothered by Tom’s actions why then is she back to being his assistant like nothing ever happened. And if his actions bothered her why does she then do the same thing to him that she complained about?
Why would Tom not even question her about why she showed up and testified against him? Tom just smiles and says he understands.
This whole part just confused me a bit.
