Whose idea was it ?. Was there any requirement for it ?. Anyway did he really think he could take on Baldwin with one arm ?.

Needed the long hair for the western Wyatt Earp which was out the same year I guess.

He didn't have long hair in Wyatt Earp.
They are hair extensions in The Getaway, so not likely.

It was really distracting, in a bad way. Just like Johnny Depp's hair in Blow.
