DO YOU GUYS THINK THE NEW REMAKE WILL MAKE IT TO #1 IN IMDBS 250 LIST

HI GUYS I AM REALLY EXCITED BECAUSE THIS IS MY FAVORITE MOVIE EVER AND I AM WONDERING SINCE THIS MOVIE SHOULD HAVE BEEN #1 (AT LEAST IT'S #1 IN MY HEART) IF THE NEW ONE WILL FINALLY TAKE OVER THE IMDB 250 LIST. WHAT DO YOUGUYS THINK PLEASE EEXPLAIN IM SO EXCITED

What's with all the caps??

Honestly, no. I know The Jungle Book did well, and I think John Favreau is a great director, but this movie is a solid classic from Disney. Remaking it invites too much criticism. While I think it will be decent if not good, it will never reach the same status as the original. I think rebooting certain ones that are older, or aren't as beloved, like The Jungle Book, is ok, but The Lion King is too immortal. Will I go see it? Abso-freaking-lutely, but I'm not terribly excited for it, or expecting anything mind-blowing. I hope to be proven wrong, though!

reply

Nope. I reckon it will stay in the 7 score region. People will like it, for sure, but top 250? Not a chance in hell, the original is too beloved. IMDb scores arn't gospel, anyway.

Interestingly, The Jungle Book (2016) has a 7.6 score on IMDb, as does the original 1967 version.

The original 1994 movie wasn't even on the top 250 for quite a long time. I doubt the remake will be nearly as good.

reply

What if it gets a Best Picture nomination? I think that would be cool. Sad that the 1967 version of The Jungle Book didn't get a Best Picture nod despite Gregory Peck's assertion. Even the version of the Lion King we all know and love and The Little Mermaid deserved Best Picture nods just as much as Beauty and the Beast. That is my 2 cents.

Are you trolling? They are two different movies. Remakes are generally not as good as the original.

Are you trolling? It's not hating; it's just extremely doubtful that IMDb voters will never rank a CGI remake of a Disney animated film higher than The Shawshank Redemption.

Recent acclaimed animated/CGI films seem to garner a rating of 8.1-8.3 while The Jungle Book (2016) seems to have settled on a rating of 7.5 so there's hardly no chance it will become #1 on IMDb's top 250.

It might or it might now, it needs to have enough positive votes for it to break into the top 250

hopefully everyone does the right thing and votes 10

That's only the right thing if it's perfect.
