Who was nicer to the hyenas between Mufasa or Scar?

I did notice that Scar did pay more attention to the hyenas and even fed them, the hyenas also seemed to like Scar a lot better than Mufasa because Scar didn't treat them like a bunch of outcasts.

Scar was using the hyenas for his own personal gain. At least Mufasa let them know how he felt about them. We saw what happened to Pride Rock once Scar became king with hyenas backing him so it's not like Mufasa's treatment of them was unjustified.

Which makes it interesting to think how things could have been different had Scar been actually friendlier and not give in to his own vanity. He had to have been a somewhat competent ruler, seeing as his reign on the throne saw Simba grow from cub to maturity.

Well Scar insulted them by calling them "idiots" several times. He also betrayed them at the end in an attempt to save his own a$$. As king, he didn't seem to give 2 sh!ts about them being hungry.

The worst thing Mufasa did was scare them away(not hurt them) B/c they tried to hurt his son!

Well put. With that in mind, one can't help but wonder if there's underlying tension between the lions and hyenas we do not so easily see but might be subtly suggested? Surely such personal beef among the species has a reason, like why they are separated in the first place, outside their basic biology as differing animals.
