As sad as it was to be Mufasa pass, the entire story was based off of this! That's the plot whole.

Remember, his goal was to eventually become king! But the journey wasn't going to be an easy one. Simba's character was written to learn to face difficult situations like an adult instead if running away from them like a cub. No plot whole, no movie

I never liked the Lion King for that reason. I watched it once and that was enough. I don't like murder in a child's movie.
