Ed O'Neill

Anybody else think O'Neill was sensational in this film and effortlessly stole it from the rest of the cast?

Absolutely. He's known for playing the lout, but his character here was, yes, the bad guy, but he was determined, honorable [when he told Spike's Dad he "didn't want to win like that"], and sensitive [he was really good to Becky]. Plus he made some valid points on life, haha.

But he just played the role so effortlessly. Very well done.

I still expect to hear a reference to him scoring 4 touchdowns in one game. ;)

Took me half the movie to stop expecting him to go all Bundy on everyone. I loved him in this. I don't usually care too much for him as a rule, but in this one I agree, he was the bad guy but not one you hated.

It's one of the reasons why a so many TV stars have a hard time getting work in the movies. Typecasting. Either way, I remember seeing Ed O Neill in K9, and he was decent in that flick too!
