What happened to Becky's mom??

I don't think it's ever clear what happened to her. They say she left them and found a better team. Does that mean that she died or left her family??

She abandoned her husband and daughter because it was a "better choice for her". It's said it in beginning when Becky doesn't make the team and her dad's trying to make her feel better.

She obviously left them for another woman. Who is definitely more manly than Rick Moranis.
