Wouldnt the Warden being a Christian be unlikely to kill himself?
Just thought that this part was weird because the movie shows the Warden Samuel Norton as a big Christian, even if he is a hypocrite in most ways, so him shooting himself to avoid going to prison seemed weird, because suicide is considered to be a mortal sin which is unforgivable in Gods eyes.
Norton would have known that he faced hell if he killed himself and been more likely to surrender and face trial and prison, could have easily blamed most of the corruption on Captain Hadley and the guards and maybe the other Wardens too, basically getting a good lawyer and getting off or at least trying to do so, but the Warden shooting himself is something that a man like him wouldnt be likely to do, even if he would be screwed by going to trial and ending up in his own prison or another, getting cast down with the sodomites.
