An ongoing gem of a film ...

Every time I watch this (every couple of years or so), I like it even more and get more out of it. Very solid sci-fi with both the unpredictable, and the predictable elements woven together very nicely.

It's one that is underrated by the masses, but held in deserved high regard by true and understanding fans of the genre.

This film gets better each time I watch it, and I've always enjoyed it. Something new to learn each time.

I watched this film and SG1's pilot back to back and my goodness, it actually flows quite well. However, I think they may have made O'Neill's character in SG1 a bit too much comic relief, but only when you compare him to O'Neill in this movie, that took it out of character for the first few episodes.

Great use the soundtrack either way, and striking similarities between this and Independence Day.

I thought it had an amazing premise and some fantastic concepts and visuals. I saw it at a packed at the DC Uptown Theater on opening night. But...the forced romance was a huge detraction, but in the early 90s, an absolute requirement, no matter how forced. Still, I'd agree it was under-appreciated when it came out.

It exceeded its budget in US gross, and made close to four times the budget worldwide. No one complained.
