The Hobgoblin

I thought he was one of the show's best villains, and that thanks in no small part to Mark Hamill's voice acting. But I was terribly disappointed with his send-off at the end of season 3.
I was glad to see him back for a short time in the Clone Saga, of course.

Hobgoblin was my favorite villain on this show and that's because like you said, it's due to Hamill.

I also have to mention Roscoe Lee Browne's excellent Kingpin. I know he was overused in the series but in most appearances he was awesome.

I really liked him too. It's too bad Hobgoblin hasn't been used since then. I guess maybe the people making cartoons these days think they can't top him. And maybe they're right. Mark Hamill is master of doing voice work for scumbags like Hobgoblin and Joker.

^Had Spectacular Spider-man not be canceled, Hobgoblin would have debuted in the third and it would have been the Kingsley version. Whom never been used outside the comics and if I'm not mistaken, is more cold and calculating than the other Hobgoblins.

Yes but the thing is that nobody knew Kingsley was Hobgoblin at the time this show was made. That story line came out around the time the third season was being made. Also since Kingsley wasn't even in the show so it makes sense they'd use Macendale as the Hobgoblin.
Edit: My bad. The third season came out a year before that story was even done.
