How come in The Xena Scrolls the old charkram is used?

If Xena merged both Chakrams, how come in The Xena Scrolls the old one is used? Ares says he stole the Dark Chakram years ago. So did he give it to Xena?

Because the Xena scrolls was written before the episode Chakram?

And when did Xena trap Ares for that matter? Last we saw of him he was running loose and Xena died soon afterwards. But in Send in the Clones, they do establish that not everything that occurred in the show accurately represents "the truth" so you can explain these things away if you like.
