Rewatched the Xena trilogy from Hercules; inconsistencies.

Rewatch the 3 episodes from Hercules that set up Xena's own show and there are definitely things that don't jive with Xena's own series

The plot of The Warrior Princess is contigent on Hercules not knowing who the hell she is. When apparently everyone else in Greece does?

Xena tells Iolus she has 3 brothers when it turns out she only has 2. Granted she could have been lying (she was certainly lying about one brother being dead) but why even add a third?

The title Warrior Princess is a sarcastic nickname Hercules gives her. But in her own series everyone knows her title and it was Lao Ma who bestowed the title.

Xena mentions healing her wounded men on the battle field and finding them shelter in her own show. Does that sound like the same Xena who sends her soldier to his death just to further her plot against Hercules?

In Unchained Heart Xena claims nothing moves her to fight for justice like Hercules and his dead family but uh Lyceus? and M'Lila?

1) Hercules is mortal and surely doesn't know everything. "Everyone else" has heard of her because she's a menace to them, but with Hercules constantly travelling around the place and picking fights it's a little hard to keep up with the happenings and every new name that wants to leave a mark.

2) People sometimes exaggerate. She was lying. Why? No idea.

3) I don't ever remember Hercules calling her that, but even if he did, it's not really a hard title to come up with. Xena's had a lot of nicknames in her illustrious career.

4) That depends on Xena's current (at the time) circumstances. It's also plausible to assume that she's had more than one army in her lifetime. The lifestyle of a soldier has a high turnover rate, so she's likely more than once lost the majority of her troops due to a big war or over time.

Just because the Xena we meet in Hercules sends people to their death doesn't mean she doesn't care about her soldiers at some stage. Maybe she couldn't afford to lose them, so she patched them up. To her, the end justifies the means, so if practically sending someone to their death is the best way to get Hercules' attention (that guy in the barn with her little necklace), then she'll do it. Just like turning Iolaus against Hercules......in her mind it was necessary.

5) If anything, Lyceus and M'lila's deaths sent her over the edge. She was enveloped with vengeance against Cortese when her mother virtually banished her, and when M'lila died in her arms "tell Hades to prepare himself. A new Xena is born tonight with one purpose in life: death". The losses fueled her dark side, not her good side.

Perhaps she found it easier to lose herself in the rage, the hate and the killing instead of allowing herself to properly mourn them.

The reason why is Xena was a new cration and they didn't know what to do with her so they made up What they needed to for the spinoff.

I agree. The Xena in Hercules was like a skeletal outline. In her own series they were still working out what Xena was in season one, and gradually fleshed her out.
