A Bad Writing Problem in Seasons 2-3 (Namely Callisto)
I know that seasons 2-3 are the Golden Age of Xena, and are both literally the best seasons of the entire series (some lump 4 in there too as well), but I noticed a bad writing problem specifically when dealing with Callisto.
When Callisto became a goddess that had it's pros & it's cons, but one of it's most glaring cons was quite evident in Goddess Callisto's premiere episode, how is Xena supposed to take down a God? I don't care if Xena is the strongest warrior woman on the planet with many skills, it is impossible for her to take down a god. This is when the writing had got a little bad for me. The writers had to resort to silly stuff such as trapping a Goddess in a volcano, in a cave, under piles of rocks, etc. It's just so laughable on so many levels.
Xena & Callisto's fights were better when both of them were on the same level. It was actually interesting to see who would win the match (yeah Xena would win because she's the title character, but Callisto is more than capable of actually taking her down). When Callisto became a goddess however their battles became a joke. Mortal Callisto always had plenty of chances to kill Xena, and now as a goddess it was actually ridiculously easy for her to kill Xena.
While I had actually liked that Callisto became a goddess it had created a lot of problems for the writers to deal with in how to handle her character now. They probably should've saved off from making Callisto a goddess until season 5 when Xena had her god-killing powers.
