I love this film right from the opening scene of Deniro's explosion, which sees him tumbling from the top- as Icarus from the sun.
Great action, script, acting and Scorcese direction.
This movie blows goodfellas out of the water. On a way higher level. Goodfellas is about a 6, this movie is a 9-10.

this movie is filmed brilliantly, what else would you expect from scorsese? But it is BLOATED, self indulgent and miserably paced. It also isn't simply a rehash of goodfellas like many claim it is.
it's an excellent film, but as far as scorsese's canon goes, it's only comparable to the WOLF OF WALL STREET, which, aside from the excessive profanity and again, self indulgence, I PREFER to casino.
Raging Bull and Goodfellas are scorsese's two best films and they always will be.

For many people, Goodfellas is better than Casino. Personally, altough Goodfellas was a great film, Casino will always be my favorite.

I've always preferred it to Goodfellas, even though GF is probably a better and certainly more groundbreaking film. You can empathise with honourable Rothstien much more than sleezy Henry Hill, and it goes deeper into the three leads and their twisting relationships, whereas GF is more of a broad-brush look at gangster life.
shareBoth are outstanding works in the genre of true crime films. Of the two films though I tend to prefer 'Casino' myself. I just find 'Casino' to be more instantly watchable and enjoyable than 'Goodfellas' is for whatever reason.

No is right, Goodfellas is clearly better than Casino. Scorsese overdid the music badly in the latter too.
shareCasino is a good movie, Goodfellows a great one.
Casino is overlong,a little self indulgent,spends way too much time on the disintergrating marraige between Ace and Ginger (after a while you just get tired of the violent arguments) and the music is overdone in the movie. It just does not have the drive and force of Goodfellows.
And none of the scenes in Casino approach the brilliance of the "Last Day As A Wiseguy" sequence of Goodfellows.
I notice those who feel that Casino is better seem to be of the "bigger is better" school of thought.
BTW I think that Scorsese repeated a lot of the mistakes he made with Casino in Wolf Of Wall Street,though Casino is overall a good movie, whereas Wolf is something of a misfire.
