Lewis made this movie in 1995, right after he stopped drinking. When promoting on Conan O'Brien in 1995-96, he didn't even sayt aht it was funny...just that you should go see it. I think that was his way of saying, I'm sober now, and this is what it's about.

Not just cathartic -- probably a good relapse-prevention technique.
