World unto itself

AA is a world unto itself. This was realistic, but depressing watching Lewis relapse. But at least he showed back up again.

This doesn't show there are alternatives to AA, and bring out that some people have serious problems with the tenets and methods of AA. I guess that would be hard to address in this type movie, but they could have had one of the members voice some issues that trouble people about AA.

I'd recommend the movie, but not watch it alone. And if you have issues with AA, look at Rational Recovery, SOS sobriety, Lifering websites.

I LOVED THIS FILM and saw it a bunch of times. ACTING was fantastic, words fantastic and message great!

I'm reading Lewis autobiography. Interesting book. A bit manic, but it is Lewis.

AA is not the only thing out there, but it has proven itself to be one of the most effective. A friend of mine has stayed off drink for over twenty years because of it.

I think the AA is a force for good, even if it can become a subculture. I think it is one of the most effective things out there. Medical treatment can be too expensive or unavailable. Also a lot of people are embarrassed about their problem and need to hear other addicts' opinion of it.

There is however some humour in this film that lightens the load.

None of the groups you mention operate here anyway. We have a few church groups, but that's about it.
