Question about Empire Records/Christown Tower Records Store

Does anybody know what elements related the Christown Tower Records store to Empire Records?

The film Empire Records was written by a former employee of Tower Records store #166 (ChrisTown Mall) in Phoenix, Arizona. When the film was released and for a long time afterward, a number of her former coworkers still working, cited anecdotes and other elements of the film that related to the store.

I worked at #166 for 7 years but it was after the writer left. There was a lot of things we did that were done during her time. We couldn't always agree with music selections so candy color or the occasional paper, rock, scissors would win the playlist (at least till we got a multidisc CD player). We had a very eccentric artist who a few characters were loosely based off of him. If a shoplifter was chill we'd usually joke with them till the cops showed up. We'd have great celebrity in stores and get to Gang with them before and during their signings. There was a rumor that a Tower employee stole a night drop of money and didn't get fired or arrested but it wasn't at our store. It really operated like a close family. We took care of each other.
