Sooo overrated

Bland, un-interesting (and actually ANNOYING) Bond girls. The incredibly annoying Russian computer wiz guy. And don’t even get me started on Joe Don Baker!

I think people WANTED to love this movie....maybe because they looked at Pierce Brosnan as the second coming....or maybe because of the cool title....or because they felt Brosnan looked pretty in his little tuxedos. But, this was a lackluster, overrated and annoying Bond film. People just remember it with rose-colored glasses.

I’ll give it this, it was perhaps the best of the awful Brosnan era. Once Casino Royale came along, it only confirmed this.

Xenia Onatopp was my favorite part of the movie. She was hot. One of the best Bond girls.

Ditto.

reply

Damn straight.

All in all, the best Bond film and one of the best films of all time.

reply

I trust no one who uses overrated in sentences. If you didn't like a film you didn't like it. That doesn't mean someone else is rating it too high just because you don't agree with them.

reply

I totally agree with you, it was a pretty generic Bond film and at the end of the day the villain once again wanted to destroy something with a giant space laser. Brosnan was good, Bean was good but that’s really about it, pretty much every other character was annoying

What’s funny is back in the IMDb days I saw a thread that was “what’s the best Martin Campbell movie: Goldeneye or Casino Royale”, Ummm Mask of Zorro is better than both of them

reply

Agreed. This is an awful Bond film and Brosnan is just a caricature throughout. How this can rank higher than OHMSS on IMDB tells you the sad state of film ratings.

reply

The best of the Bond films.

Daniel Craig sucks.
