I think it looks pretty good. About what I expected for an American adaptation of the Major.

"American" does not mean "white". Kusanagi should've been offered to an Asian American actress.

This movie is yet another disgusting whitewash.

I'm half-Japanese and think Scarlett is good for the role. She plays the "no emotion" role just fine. She's one of the top actresses working right now. Besides, look who owns the movie industry. The only way to stop white-washing is by not supporting these type of movies; But that only works if everyone thought like you. I couldn't care less. Hell, the movie is being filmed in New Zealand. Why aren't you mad that it's not being filmed in Japan?

Every person that served can be called a veteran, but not every veteran can be called a Marine.

That photo or any other photo isn't going to change anything except confirm that the disgusting whitewash with this movie is a reality.

It deserves to bomb. Racism should not be rewarded.

I don't think so, I doubt that they were thinking Scarlett Johansson was the best actress available for the part based on her race; I think they just want to cater the movie to a bigger audience unfamiliar with the franchise and they couldn't find an asian actress who was as popular. Now when those who have no idea what "Ghost in the Shell" is see it advertised they'll think that it must be a "decent movie" because a "high-profile actress" is in it and they might be more willing to give it a shot.

The problem I have with this kind of decisions is that they give the impression that the numbers are more important than making a faithful adaptation and it makes me doubt it will be the only aspect they will be altering for the sake of reaching a huge audience.
