25th Anniversary or Original Version on 2.0?

I've heard mixed things about the 25th anniversary release, mainly that the subtitles are wacky as hell. I've been meaning to buy this for a long time since GITS is one of my favorite animes, but I was wondering if I should go for this new release or just buy 2.0 and watch the original version that's included with it (hate all the changes they made in 2.0). I don't really care about extras so the lack of them on the 25th anniversary version doesn't really matter to me.

I own both. I can't comment on the subtitles but I do prefer the original in HD over 2.0. The opening was especially distracting.

Basically what it comes down to is strange subtitles on the 25th anniversary, or inferior picture quality on the 2.0 edition. I own the 25th anniversary edition, which is fine considering I generally prefer dubs.

BTW: the 25th anniversary edition is now free on Hulu in the US.

If you get the Special Edition USA dvd, it has Spanish, Italian, German audio tracks as well as new extras.

I own an old original japanese DVD from 1996, and it's my favourite. I recieved as a gift a blu-ray version of the 1995 movie, with better sound and image, and subtitles in like 8 languages! But I do not like the 2.0 version, I can't get used to it.

Please excuse my terrible redaction, english is not my native language IMDb = Catch-22
