I really wanna check out this franchise, but I want to know for certain what the best/recommended/chronological order to watch everything is. For the record, I'm referring simply to films/anime/OVA's. Cheers.

Those are the orders I know. I don't know anything about the new series. Looks rather poor though.

They are just different universes. If you watch the two movies and the series they can't really fit into the same timeframe.
