Somehat OT - men becoming teachers in the 60s and 70s
I have a vague memory of hearing ( I think from a substitute teacher) that in the 60s and 70s a number of young men, upon graduating from college, and thus becoming eligible for the draft, would become public school teachers, because apparently that was a legal way to void Vietnam. Does anyone know if this is true, and if so, did this cause a spike in the male to female teacher ratio?
