As much as I liked this movie I can't get past Dustin Hoffman's over-acting in every scene......just too much

Over-acting? You mean, overreacting? His character may have overreacted but Dustin wasn't alone. Many characters in this film actually have emotion and passion... something you probably sorely lack in your daily life.

But I think Dustin is quite alright in this actually
Sutherland is VERY tired throughout the movie zz.

Hoffman was bad. Sutherland was worse. Freeman was acceptable.
