Could The Marquis of Montrose perchance have been Cunninghams father?

I began wondering about this when I saw Rob Roy again yesterday, and noticed how he looked at Cunninghams locket (containing a portrait of Cunninghams mother), and snatched it from Cunninghams dead body..

Was it a special reason why the Marqui wanted to keep that locket? Perhaps it was that the woman was a former lover of the Marqui.

Archie didn't react to the "likely lad" comment.

But Montrose was probably the "young buck" who f..ed his mom so 1 in 3 chance. Clearly he had some relationship with her to take in her son and then take the locket.

But still he saw Archie as a bastard who was beneath him, bad daddy.

Even though Archie was pissed at his mom for being a whore he clearly showed feelings for her.

That scene always led me to believe that too.

I thought Cunningham was an English swordsman (probably from England), while Marquis of Montrose was a Scottish nobleman....how could they be related!!!

About Marqui keeping the locket...I assumed he was probably curious, whose portrait this serial womanizer valued so much to always carry around, apart from the fact that it was a valuable trinket..

Anorensic wonders: "how could they be related"

Easily. Like, a young buck named Graham visited a party in England, met a beautiful English woman at a dance and lifted her skirts. Later on, Graham became the Marquis of Montrose.
