New 'Tales' Movie Idea:

There needs to be a new one coming out. Here's my idea:

1. Divide the film up into stories, like the Twilight Zone movie did. Make each segment like a half hour, or so.

2. Get rid of the cryptkeeper puppet. An actor should play him, much like the British film....as for the actor playing him, I would go with Sir Anthony Hopkins. Yes, he'll always be remembered as Hannibal Lecter, but I think he could do it, just add some prosthetics and makeup.

3. Get bigger stars than the previous two movies did. With the exception of Dennis Miller and Jada Pinkett, it was pretty much people who had been on the show before. (Billy Zane, William Sadler, Miguel Ferrer, Whoopi Goldberg.)

Anyone else have any ideas?

I like ideas 1 and 3 but you can't replace the Crypt Keeper with an actor, that's what makes Tales from the Crypt great plus there's already a third Crypt movie coming out well sort of.

there was a 3rd tales from the crypt movie, it's called Ritual, I haven't seen it and I'm not sure of anyone else has but it's from Dimension Films and it didn't even have the Crypt keeper at all.

according to rummors the third one well be released in september 25 of this year but it well have no references towards tales from the crypt at all, even not having the Crypt Keeper.

But I'm confused about that because I looked at the Full Cast and Crew credits for Ritual; the Cinematography mentions somebody who did the cinematography for The Crypt Keeper sequences so I'm guessing the film had the Crypt Keeper scenes deleted.

Originally intended to be produced by Universal as the third installment of a trilogy of Tales From The Crypt movies by plans were scrapped after Bordello of Blood bombed in theaters.

Miramax purchased the rights from Universal and removed all references to the “Tales From The Crypt” franchise so that it could be released as a stand alone movie.

Not sure the Tales From the Crypt idea would go over well on the "new generation." The reason the following happened was because of the TV show. Pre-teens and teens now don't remember that. It will probably end up watered-down and not as cult-fantastic as Demon Knight was. It's too old to be in, and it's too new to be retro.

this is why the "new generation" sucks ball... if it were to be made, it would almost certainly be pg-13, and william sadler (for the prequel, anyway) is too old to appeal to the o.c., survivor, mtv, pill-popping crackbabies and their 3-minute attention spans... (can you tell i despise these tards and the way they've killed the horror movie as we know it?)

Nothing like getting your face cut off to disturb your sleep!

That's another thing. What's up with all these PG-13 horror movies. Even Wes Craven is selling out (Cursed).

As to all of these comments about taking the Crypt Keeper puppet out, none of you who believe this are true fans of the show. You shouldn't even be aloud to comment on anything regarding TFTC.

My thought is, if they would make another Tales from the Crypt movie, and make more like Demon Knight, and just forget that Bordello was even made, a lot of TFTC fans would come out of the wood work. The "new generation" does suck, but Tales from the Crypt will live forever...

^damn straight! the puppet has to STAY!

I agree Cryptkeeper has to stay! He's a trademark, it wouldn't be the same without him. I love the way he mixes words and makes a different disturbing meaning out of it. I love the few cornyish jokes he makes, I love his mansion and that psycho-devilish laughter.

I really hate going to theaters these days and see PG-13 horror thrillers. I mean its bad when everything goes PG-13. Honestly, it makes terrible movie qualities. They have to stop being a sell-out to everyone. What the fugk is wrong with hollywood?!?
