stupid thing to do by Walden 'Spoiler'

I just have seen this movie and "the generals daughter" and what i noticed is that both Walden and Campell tells their would be killers (indirectly in Waldens case) that they will ruin their career and life while their still are in a difficult position. (Walden and her team still in the desert and Campell lying defensless on the ground.)
Why the hell can't they shout up threating people until they are safe and then make the actions needed.
This makes me so frustrated..

"Why the hell can't they shout up threating people until they are safe"

Sorry - what do you mean?

reply

Walden says just before they are saved that there will be consequenses for what Leguazimo did that night.
Why couldn't she just shout up until they were saved, why did she have to threat Leguziamo seconds before they were saved.

OK... its the "shout up" expression that has me a little puzzled. I thought you might have mis-spelt "shut-up" but you spelt it that way several times.

In the story that act probably cost her her life. We have the advantage of retrospect - she didn't. Two aspects: First I guess its a thing of honour. How would she feel leading him to think all was OK and forgiven, then to spring a court-martial on him when they got home? Second, If she had let him think all was OK, how would it affect her credibility as an officer who is to be obeyed?

There's no such word as "spelt," so SHOUT-UP!

"it's all fun & games til someone gets hurt...Then it's REAL fun !

reply

Actually, wrong. In many countries we use 'spelt' and not 'spelled' as you do.

it wasnt John Leguizamo who played Monfriez, it was Lou Diamond Phillips. Just FYI.

I read the penis biting scene was removed.

Nothing is more beautiful than nothing.

It's most definately honor and also duty. She did, IMHO, the right thing by telling him, "There will be consequences." I would feel rather unbecoming if I went and acted like all was healed and then court-martial him. She stuck to her guns. She died for it but isn't that what life is about? Making a stand, standing up for what you believe? Atleast, that's how I see it. It wasn't stupid. HOnestly it's a similar situation to Willem Dafoe in Platoon. You ask WHY DIDN'T HE KILL THAT GUY? But y'know, he did it right. He wouldn't let things off and he wasn't about to be a liar. Even if that means his life.
