Why couldn't they have just nuked the island of L.A.?

Of course it would have meant there wouldn't have been a reason to make this movie (and maybe that would have been a good thing) but considering how the President felt about the people living there nuking the entire place wouldn't have been that big of a stretch imagining.

Would have simplified things too.

Also, you would think they'd have kept better security than to let a nutty girl get hold of their biggest weapon like that.

I guess the president wanted to retrieve the black box. Nuking LA would be the last resort.

Lol...well, she WAS the President's daughter, so it wasn't like she was some average civilian wondering around some government facility. Sure, its highly improbable, but not impossible. And believe me, the US Government and all the nefarious activities is been caught up in for years, all the lies, hypocrisy, fabrications to go to war (ahem, yellowcake and wmds), etc, are about the biggest epic failures in world history. There were cases where even Bill Clinton and Carter lost the codes for the nuclear football.

So yea, not just the US gov, but all govs tend to make blunders along the same level as Beavis and Butthead would.

And yes, this movie tanked horribly on the specia fx and in some of the actions scenes (ie, shot at by 2 guys from 5 ft away with automatic weapons, and simply doing a wheelie to get away lol...and that horrible tidal wave surfing scene), but it still touches on the same esoteric value of the world we live in and the direction its headed, if the lunacy keeps continuing.

I'll always prefer the 1st film though, as its ending is just one of the best in movie history, imo.

Because then you'd have no movie you numbnod. Lol.

This was explicitly mentioned in the movie. They say that he would see the planes coming and put in the codes. Same with the president, she wasn't a factor, the president wanted her dead.
