The bad CGI hurts the movie
typically special effects wont really hinder or improve a movie for me. the thing 1982 is fantastic for many reasons despite its groundbreaking practicals, and the transformer movies are pure dogshit despite having some great cgi. black panther has that one really bad cgi fight scene but nobody batted an eye. yet, these effects are fucking atrocious. the earthquake, the shark, the helicopter, and its all topped with the green screen surf scene. this stuff liked awful even in 1996. compared to other movies like twister or independence day, also from 1996, this looks like a playstation game and it ruins the movie for me.
