Underground living quarters

I thought the living quarters of the street people seemed to be a bit more neat and tidy than I would have expected. But I do really like this movie. I am an ER nurse and my husband is an ER doc. The movie's depiction of ER chaos and noise is right on.

The journey underground to the homeless people's quarters took forever. I actually thought I was going to see the earth's magma by the time they got to where they were going.

I think it would've been a better movie if they took time to rewrite the script and flesh out the characters more. Make the good guy less of a hero, and the bad guys a bit less evil.

do folks actually live down there or does MTA know about it?

People do live down there. Here is a documentary:

What a waste. Oh, the humanity!

There's a good deal of dispute on the number of people living under New York and their living conditions. Some sources say that some of these folks pirate electricity and water from the utilities and have home appliances in their dens.
