charlotte gainsbourg actually played the best jane eyre of all eventhough the movie itself is inaccurate.Shes not beautiful and attractive but theres something about her quietness and face that makes her look exactly like what ive expected from jane eyre.Pale,plain,thin, seems stubborn and hardheaded

I agree that she played an excellent Jane, but I think after looking at other pics of her that it must have been hard to make her plain. No make-up and the black attire do a good job, but I still think she's too pretty. In the book, everyone who talked about her remarked how NOT handsome she was...this wouldn't be in my description of Charlotte.

I think she did a great job in the role though my personal favorite still has to be ruth wilson though i bet a ton of ppl would disagree. Too bad charlotte had to be cast in such a unbearably inaccurate version of the book. It was almost painful for me to watch being an huge fan of the book. But charlotte was a very good jane.
