Why, other than being a big Hollywood actress did they cast her in this important Irish movie?? Her "Irish" accent is awful and all over the place... She is no great actress either. Her accent is quite off putting and I really think they should of cast someone else.... Someone who doesn't sound like a yank barely trying to put on an Irish accent. Shame on Neil Jordan for his miscast choice in many better , maybe lesser known actresses who could of filled her place and done a much better job

I agree. Somebody addressed this question on another thread by saying she was needed to sell the movie stateside which is rubbish but even if it were true that Roberts was the only choice to accomplish the feat is nonsense also.

I've had a lot of sobering thoughts in my time Del Boy, it's them that started me drinking!

I'm sure Jordan was forced to cast her by the production company.
