horrible acting.

Some of the worst acting in film history especially on the part of Vivica Fox.

I wouldn't say it was bad acting. Vivica A Fox is not a bad actress, especially if you seen her in Kill Bill.

Just it was a really predictable heist story with so many plot holes and parts that didn't make sense.

Vivica A Fox character could have easily gotten another bank teller job, or sued the bank for racially profiling her and accusing her of being an accomplice to the robbery, instead of working with the same people who got her in that position in the first place, her acquaintances from the ghetto. Anyways, where was her family at, I guess she didn't have any.

But I guess I can understand her frustration. She got fired from a bank, so now she wants to rob all of them.

Kimberly Elise character, where was the father of her baby at? Where was her family at? None of these girls had someone to watch her baby? I guess with her being the youngest, she's naive but I don't know. She could have gone on welfare, or used many free childcare options. So there was no excuse as to how she got her child taken away. So she decided to rob banks so she can I guess in her court case, she all of a sudden magically has money now to take care of her child.

Queen Latifah's character was the only one to my knowledge that was a felon or a convict and had criminal history. So I guess honestly her character was the only one that made sense. She was this suppressed lesbian that thought the whole world was against her and she just had that crime and gangster mentality. Where she messed up was throwing the records out of the cars she stole that had her fingerprints on it. Dumb move. But again, she had that criminal mentality so it wouldn't have mattered.

Jada Pinkett's character other than her brother being wrongfully shot and killed by the police, we don't know anything about. Other than supposedly she went to college to study law but dropped out. I don't know. She also gets in a relationship with the bank manager which is also kinda a redundant side story. This man is very successful and seemed open to learning more about her botched past, yet she still decides to rob banks, I guess due to pressure from the other girls. I don't know.

Again not knowing her past history, her seeing what might have been the only family she had her younger brother shot and killed by the police, might have just been the final straw and she gave up on having a straight life. In hindsight, she should have sued the police department yes, but that would have taken years and who's to say she would have won the case. Her character is now at large for three armed robberies and I guess having her character move to South America at the end was showing her being successful at evading the police.

It just had so many plotholes and parts that didn't make sense.

I think the actresses did a good job with the acting. They have all since been recognized as professsional actors. I also think that the movie Set it Off was good and just saw the characters as a product of their environment and circumstance. I agree that jadas character did not have to rob banks. However, she was also grieving after the loss of her last family member. She met her boyfriend afterward. I think if she had met him earlier or had her parents she wouldnt have chosen that route. Also if she was also hadnt been raised in an environment thats the equivalently the opposite of the surburb she may have had a more hopeful outcome and support system. She wasnt. None of them were. As Queen Latifah said, they were hoodrats and life was very hard. The only way out was either money or education or a good job or a support system that will get you in a situation you will flourish in. None had that and you still needed money to het out. Now, Vivica character lost her job and way out which was why she was soo mad. And no she couldnt have sued when she had no money for a lawyer or gotten another job because she knew the men who robbed her bank. Plus she was never cleared. Plus, No bank will hire her with that connection or a letter of recommendation with the money they handled and the clientele they deal with. Kimberlys character life was also hard. She was a single mother that needed money to get custody of her kid yet she had no money or a good job. I doubt even if the father was involved, he wouldnt be able to help. In some places that the norm. And Queen Latifah just didnt care. The fact of the matter is in some places that people grow up in places that doesnt encourages growth and coukd lead you down a wrong path. Its also hard to get out and thats what the characters represented.
