so many mistakes it's unreal!

first of all the movie did have promise but then just plain flat out sucked.

when they shoot the guy who tries to rob them what are the odds a cop will know the exact street where a shooting occurred?

why wouldnt the gas stations be open? i guess you could say the meters were electric but even then they could limit you to filling up gallon cans or figure out some way of rationing the petrol.

did the ice cream van have a sign saying "free"? why would this be free?! if theres a solar storm and it's really as hot as we are to believe then this guys gonna make a mint!

then raymond in his own house doesn't have his gun loaded why not? some randoms just come to your house asking for your car and you don't load your gun? yeah totally!

also (sorry but none of this is relevant i just wanted to point out all the things that were illogical) when they go to the gun store and the guy takes the 12 gauge shells away why wouldn't you just say give me the damn shells or something? and yet later in the film they have plenty of shells!

finally, although i think theres more i can't remember, when the guy car jacks them why not just keep saying sorry man we really got to go and have the shotgun read just in case?

OK, gunslinger, here's a reply:

first: the cops heard the gunshot. They would normally, in such a masssive blackout, field more prowl cars.
second: why would a gas station open their tanks and allow customers to syphon gas? Just close the station and go home. Not just the pumps require power but so does the cash register and credit card machine.
third: ice cream? geez... get a clue.
fourth: not everybody likes loaded guns around their family. Plus they just bought it.
fifth: the guy gave them back the shells. Do you think movies show everything? The writer probably didn't think he had to explain every little detail (which to most of us, he doesn't)
sixth: the gun was packed in the back. That may have been a bad idea but does not reflect bad writing.

I hope you're not this critical in all aspects of your life. Ever heard of "poetic license"? Relax and enjoy the movie.

I'm pretty sure that gas pumps need electricity to operate.

There are so many movies where no one is shown calling the police, yet the police magically appear.

Well, the ice cream would have all melted in a couple hours anyway, so why not give it out before it does melt?

Raymond's gun was loaded, but it ran out halfway through and then he started to reload.

Had Joe not pointed the gun at Gary, he wouldn't have shot him.

The film has its flaws, but there's a real sense of dread after Joe gets shot.
