Latest Season Out on Acorn

Not as good as it used to be, but better than the offal they make here in the US.

reply

It's a rather average season, no one episode really stands out. Even the best of the six can be only said as an above average episode.

reply

I cannot stand Kam! What a snotty little b!tch. There's not one speck of chemistry between her and Nelson, so their competitiveness is not charming (a la Tracey-Hepburn), it's just annoying.

reply

I wonder if Kam will have another relationship with the new DS in Series 19.

reply

Funny, I was thinking about that last night.
No one can be as good as George Bullard, but these last 2......I think as with Betty, they looked at some demographic survey somewhere, and found that female pathologist are popular with audiences. So are babies. And cute dogs. Goodness knows what the next survey will tell them. A person in a wheelchair is missing!!!

(I use one, so I can say that)

reply

The Barnaby's had a baby because Fiona Dolman (Sarah) was pregnant. Not because of any survey. My my, some people just get very cynical. Why not just sit back and enjoy the series, or if you no longer enjoy it, stop watching it.

Being male, I can't describe Kan as you did, without being accused of being a misogynist, but oh boy, she gets worse.

Season 18 episode 5 and the tennis.....her comments about " I'm just practicing for a real opponent"??? Really??? If Nelson wasn't a wimp, he'd have walked off with a well known gesture using a single finger.

reply

Ugh.

So Barnaby gets a phone call in the middle of the night about a murder. He meticulously shaves, makes tea, and feeds the dog befor he goes to the scene to meet his sergeant.

I wouldn't wanna work for him.

Must have needed 5 minutes of filler in the show.

It is painful to watch.

I just saw Nettles in a documentary about Shakespeare. I wish he'd get called back from retirement on the show, like Foyle did.

reply

Yes, but Foyle did not have a replacement, meanwhile.

reply

Yeah he did. Remember the one episode that Sergeant Milner had to work for the new DCI and was thinking about quitting?

It's not the same thing I know. That episode was to find a bridge when ITV first cancelled it then changed their mind.

Besides, one can hope.

reply

Final episode of the season plunged me backed to the depths of despair....the whole episode felt forced and not particularly enjoyable.

reply

The whole season is a letdown. My favourite of this season is A Dying Art. But even so it's only a slightly above-average episode from the whole series.

reply

Good.

We're getting the earlier seasons here on PBS so I think I'll do a little binge watching in Acorn.

reply

That's what I did. Binge watched some earlier ones top time the pump then watched the new ones.
