Doctor Sleep

Anyone think King's upcoming sequel will get adapted as well?

"They're eating her. Then they're going to eat me! Oh my GOOOOOOOD!"

reply

Nearly everything he writes gets adapted eventually so it's only a matter of time. Not sure if it will actually follow something or be more of a stand alone thing though. It may depend on how much the story depends on The Shining. Its definetaly not going to follow this and it probably won't follow Kubrick's version either as its so different from the book and this is a sequel to the book. But yeah I assume they will make it eventually.

Of course. Cross your fingers for a good director.

Well, they just announced another one of his works being adapted: http://tvline.com/2014/06/24/big-driver-stephen-king-lifetime-movie-ma ria-bello/
(and pretty much everything he does seems to be) so, yeah, I think Doctor Sleep will eventually.

I know what I like and I like what I know.

I honestly hope the movie Doctor Sleep follows this movie in the future. Unlike most King or Kubrick fans, I actually like this movie. I'd love for Cortland Mead to return as Danny, and I think a theatrical release would be a genius idea even if it follows a mini-tv movie.

Has anyone read Dr Sleep yet?

reply

I have. I liked it quite a bit.

It seems less a direct sequel than King simply answering what he admits in the Afterword that fans have been asking him for years: "What happened to the kid from 'The Shining'?"

I do not suffer fools gladly, and fools on the Internet, never.

Just to note, Stanley Kubrick didn't exactly honor Stephen King's vision.
