Wow! Amazing piece of acting by Nolte. So subtle. And the way he can release a single tear on command shows he's a master.

It was a five second shot, filmed weirdly, with half his face blocked by his hand and the pliers, so I'm not seeing what the "amazing piece of acting" you're referring to was. I do agree, though, his ability to shed the tear like that out of nowhere was impressive.

I think the amazing piece of acting the OP is referring to is in his eyes. His eyes showed such pain in that scene. The tear was good but it was the pain shown in his eyes before the tear that really impressed me.
