Anyone there just love the part where Sarone has the gun on them in the wheelhouse when Westridge whack him in the back of the head through the window with one of his golf clubs.
He then stands over Sarone who's unconcious and attaempts to swing down again and says, *beep* in one! Shall i hit him again to make sure!?"

The scene between Westridge and Danny over the loudness of the music on the radio because he cannot concentrate on his golf club swings and they fight over the volume. Danny then slaps Westridge on the wrist leading Westridge to say,
"I could cheerfully hire someone to kill you! Fifty dollars should cover it!"
"I could just kill you for free right now," Danny replies as Westridge just smiles sarcastically. "Oh really!"
Danny holds up his pocket knife in the intent of slitting his throat.
"You and who's army!?" Westridge remarks as he walks away.
"Your mumma's!" Danny calls back.
I find that scene just so classic and enjoy watching it time after time every time.

Westridge was such a classic character portrayed by Jonathan Hyde and was such a shame he was grabbed by the snake from the water fall in the tree which then tipped over into the river.
Westridge is later seen in the water unconcious and believed to have drowned.
He bravely saved Teri and Danny's life by distacting the snake by splashing te water and yelling out, "Over here you fat assed bastard!", but at a terrible price.

I like the part where they come across the other boat and Terri calls out which then Sarone shoots a riffle into the air but nobody is on the other boat and Westridge is just sitting by faning himself with his hat and cooly remarks:
"I got the distinct impression there's nobody at home."

Then later on after they've lost Mateo, Terri discusses that they stay put incase he's lost and can find his way back to the boat and Westridge panics.
"Are you insane! Where do you think he went!? A walk in the woods!? Now listen we've got to get the hell out of here!"
Get a grip," Terri suggests.
"I've got a grip!"

Great script, great actors and one hell of a great movie. Best Anaconda of the series made.

I get what you mean Thomasscory9415, and to tell you the truth, it beats me how it all worked out. Maybe the scene had a few nips and tucks that helped give out that answer.
Though if we saw Sarone do what he did, it would make him less of a threat because we know Sarone is too sneaky to be seen doing the things he does, though we suspect him straight from the start. Hope this works for you because it's the best i can do!

Indeed old chap.

If i were there, i would have let Westridge clunk him on the head again, then through him in the river instead of letting him regain concienceness and be able to escape via the knife from Denise, after killing her.

I enjoy watching the fear in his eyes when the snake is in hot persuit for him.
Otherwise he's a great actor.

We don't actually see it in the squeezing process but after the snake reguritates Sarone, he's balanced on his knees momentarily and his face is exposed to Teri and we can see he has an eye missing. He winks at her with the other eye and a sort of smile before falling upon face first to the floor.
Whether he lived through that we don't know, but i highly doubt it.

Yeah it's a bit confusing but he winds up on his knees and winks then falls flat on his face. Most likley dead then. But this is hollywood for you!

You've raised a very interesting theroy there. I'll support it because it makes perfect sense. Sarone was out to capture the snake whatever it would take. He'd kill off his partners if it would help catch his prize.
He was shocked at Gary's demise but at the same time cared more for his snake.
Terri was going to shoot the snake but Sarone stopped her saying the snake was no good to him dead. Thus standing by watching as Gary was lost beneath the coils of the Anaconda.

But i'd love to know how Terri got a hold of the picture of Sarone when he discarded it earlier. We never saw Danny pick it up and why did Terri leave it for so long to confront Sarone? It must be hollywood's nip'n tucks.

Yeah i just wish the film had more scenes filled in to help us get a better understanding. I'd to see an extended version of this film.
Westridge complains about his quarters and other nips and tucks that were taken out of the film.

Yep, Mateo didn't even survive to know who Serone really was and his intentions lol.

What do you mean by this? Mateo knew who he was somehow, because he was in the picture Serone got from his boat that they raided, same with the Poacher from the beginning.

Yeah that part about the wasp still gets me. We never see him do it but we get a feeling he's behind it somehow. It just makes him a bit badder being that sneaky.

Yeah it all sounds complicated but it's gotta work out something like that because Sarone had to get Cale out of the way due to the fact he wasn't going to be easy to convince other wise.

Wait...what??!!! I haven't seen this movie in like a long time so that may be why I forgot. So, that would mean my first theory was correct. That Mateo was an old friend of Serone/partner in poaching. Serone needed people to help him capture the world's biggest snake, even against their will if needed, so he called Mateo (his old buddy) to sign up to be the captain of a boat of a folm crew.

People haven't watched closely (then again, I wholly agree that they gloss over a lot in the plot).

Yes. Mateo is an old friend of Serone. First, you can see this in the initial reactions when Serone first gets on the boat and they pick him up for being stranded. On more than one occasion you can see him grimacing about his old pal and their looks back and forth at each other.

This is later confirmed, as someone finally mentioned, that they're all in the newspaper clipping picture together where Danny Trejo (the poacher) made base. Serone puts that in his pocket and takes it back to the boat and it is found by J-Lo after they've tied him up.

The details of whether Mateo and Serone were in on the entire plan together the whole time or if Serone just surprised Mateo with "hey buddy, how about a lift with your documentary crew" is up for debate and not very thoroughly clarified. It could easily be that Mateo was a guide who found marks for Serone to chase his prey...or it could be that Serone just surprised him. Either way, connection there...

That said, Kari Wuhrer was very hot in the film 14 years ago and Warren Westridge did a great job as well....CGI was terrible though.

Makes you wonder wafterwards to what happened to Westridge in the scene following the waterfall scene.
Granted he was snagged by the snake half way down the falls like a bungie jump.
The snake attempted to squeeze and later swallow him, but the tree collasped and tipped over.
The snake lost grip of both the branch and Westridge, after landing in the water because we see that Westridge appears to be unconcious in the water with the snake deserting him in favour of Danny.
It's pretty unclear wherether he drowned from being underwater or just drifted away unconcious and went un-notticed by the others. I find this to be a small plot hole.
It could have be made more clearer that maybe the Shirra Sharma tribe found him and nursed him back to health in time for us to see them at the end with a healed Westridge. That would have made a much better ending for the film.
Although when you have favourite characters, you want them to make it past the end of the movie and find it hard to see them go within the movie.

Example:

My favourite character in Peter Benchley's The Beast was Dr. Herbert Talley because i could easily relate to him on the level of Marine Biology and i'm also very interested in Giant Squids.
It was very annoying for me for the fact that he was killed off in the final 3 minutes of the film to have his head bitten open by the Giant Squid and most likely his body shredded and eaten or simply the body was chucked aside.
Hollywood can make us feel this impact, making it hard to see our characters go.
Sometimes in a gruesome manner.

I hope i made my statement clear and didn't dribble on too much information. But lots of info is very important, otherwise it doesn't become clear in the first statement.

Don't overthink movies like this mate. I think it is pretty obvious he's dead or will die (they did leave without him, after all, right?). And even if he didn't die per your suppostion, I don't think it would it constitute a "plot hole". It is an enjoybale mid 90s "B-movie" with a giant snake enjoyable for many other reasons and certainly has a few borderline plot holes much more evident than that which you ascribe. Plus he's hardly the kind to survive in the jungle alone (injured) for more than a day let alone completely isolated for what would be much longer.

Hmm, I feeling that you might be the one whom I got the idea to write Anaconda Fanfic, where Westridge really survives and ends up in the care of the Shirishams. Admittedly, I added a dose of romance to it myself, because in my story he stayed in the jungle, with Shirishama tribe, for a couple of decades. And of course he is not alone during that time, but finds love and has a daughter with this Shirishama woman, who has became his loving wife.

In addition, the rest of the team will return, although Terri and Cale are together, married. At least in my story, Danny is more or less single because I didn’t really know if the character was dating anyone or not. But I can always change that too. Oh yeah, and besides, in my story, Terri and Calel has a son, Alejandro. Who is adult already, at that point when they decide to return to the river, though not of their own free will, but a little forced. Not prisoners, though. Oh and the gigantic Anaconda is back too. :D

So thank you for your what-if idea. :)
I can try to put a piece of the story here, but I have to translate it into English first, because English is not my home language.

That's a very valid point but i love the movie but i wish we'd have had better confirmation that he was dead. It's probably just me but i always prefer to see that a character is dead and just not left behind but i take the point you mentioned earlier.

It's my opinion that Serone was setting Mateo up to be eaten. It's possible that Serone is the one that knew the most about, or had any sort of knowledge about Anacondas. If Serone and Mateo (along with Danny Trejo) were crew members trying to catch an Anaconda in the past. From what we were shown in the opening on their boat, Mateo and Serone appeared to have been gone, while the snake hunted down Danny Trejo. How long of a time Serone and Mateo have been apart is unsure, or how long ago the opening happened is unsure.

So it's my theory that when Serone and Mateo (this time with Danny) went back to the boat, that Serone, probably knowing more about snakes than Mateo, and likely being the brains behind the operation from earlier, was setting Mateo up to be killed by the Anaconda. That plan doesn't make entire sense because you can't train an Anaconda. I think it could be said though that Serone should count himself lucky.

Then again I shouldn't presume anything. Jon Voight might slap me around and point a gun at my face.

Yeah, Westridge was my favorite character. Always been a fan of Jonathan Hyde since Jumanji, the guy's awesome! For me, he was the best character in the film, Ice Cube, J.Lo, Owen Wilson & Eric Stoltz were great too! Voight was very funny as Paul Sarone haha! PRAISE THE LORD! LOL!

I worked in the movie theater when this came out, watched it almost everyday just to see crowd reaction. The scene that got the most laughs was Westridge's 'WHERE DO YOU THINK HE WENT??!! A WALK IN THE WOODS!!!' The crowd roars because of his delivery and relatability.

We're back at the boat and Mateo is just missing all of a sudden. Jennifer Lopez's character is still in denial. 'If it were me out there, I'd be dead.' Real Stuff, crank up the boat and let's roll.

I think he had just about all of the best lines in the film, aside from Voight, he had most of the memorable dialogue.
