Questions...

Love the movie, but after watching it for the first time in years, (like, since elementary school) I noticed a few things that didn't quite jive with me.

1. The group keeps getting lost. After they finally knock Serone out, why not just turn the damn boat around and head back the way they came? They should go back out toward the barrier that they blew up, and just keep going back until they're on the route that they're familiar with, and then head back toward civilization. Instead, they appear to keep turning up in places they seem to be awed and surprised by, (the water fall where Westridge is killed, the abandoned mill at the very end.)

2. How is Danny Trejo's boat beyond the barrier? He gets killed in the opening of the film. Later, the crew has to blow up the barrier to continue on their way, and yet somehow they manage to find Trejo's boat. How could he have gotten beyond the barrier?

3. Why did Serone need their boat in the first place? Why not just use his own boat? Terri says that this whole thing was a trick. She mentions Mateo being in on it, and Serone's "disabled boat" being a part of it.

4. Danny says they'll "trap the snake in the smoke stack!" How? Before they decide to blow it up, Terri says she'll lure it into the stack, and Danny agrees. But, even if she managed to get to the top of the stack, get out and slam the cage down in the snake's face, what would stop it from just turning around and coming back out the bottom after Danny? I saw nothing there, like a door at the bottom, that would keep it trapped inside. Unless he planned on just trying to keep its tail pinned to the floor with the pickaxe. If they hadn't found a way to blow it up in the process of this "trapping" plan, I don't think it would have ended well for either of them.

5. Was Serone aware of the second snake, or was it just a happy coincidence for him that they ended up at the mill? The mill obviously being the second snake's lair.

All valid questions and, i'm afraid, the real answer is, because the plot said so.

ok...i will try.

1. Perhaps, once beyond the barrier they were lost. So, technically, they don't keep getting lost, they stayed lost and didn't know the way back to the barrier.

2. The snakes built the barrier after Danny's boat went by. They knew this would lure humans into their forbidden territory. Humans can't resist going where they are not supposed to. Or maybe, Danny just took another river tributary in.

3. His boat didn't have hot women on it?

4. ummmm......ummmm.....

5. I think Serone knew where the mill was. How else would he have known to go there? I think he was planning on trapping the snake. I don't know what he was trapping it with, mind you. The last time we saw him he had been dumped in the river. The real question is HOW did he get there.

I appreciate the effort. You actually did come up with some decent answers.

I always loved this movie when I was a kid, and I hadn't seen it in years. So, when I saw it for cheap on blu-ray I picked it up.

But as I sat there watching it, all of these questions came rushing into my brain, and it was kinda depressing... No matter how I tried to justify these "plot holes," I just couldn't seem to find any plausible answers. lol

He said the barrier wasn't there the last time he went there.
