Michael Douglas best role?

I loved him in this movie. He really was perfect as a respectable, uptight business man who ends up as a rat in a maze.

To me its a tossup between this as Nicholas van Orton or Gordon Gekko in Wall Street. Am I forgetting something?

True his best movie ever

I thought he was somewhat hammy and unconvincing during the early scenes playing Mr. Mean.

reply

Definitely one of his best imo.

I love his character in this movie. Very sexy. :)

good casting by hollywood yet again

Nope. His best role was as William Foster in "Falling Down", the man who did as he was told but couldn't handle when it all fell apart.

Falling Down, then this.

Agreed, The Game & Falling Down are his best roles, I think Wall Street's probably his most recognizable & iconic though, all great performances though, great actor.

Michael Douglas is somewhat underrated as an actor: I'll go so far as saying that I think he was perfect as an Indiana Jones-type in Romancing the Stone, and also perfect as a stone cold suit in The Game.

I did feel that he was kinda out of place in Falling Down and Wonderboys.

But his best role has to be Nicholas Van Orton.

definitely not underrated. he was big in the 90s

This was one of his best roles but I also thought he was great in 'Ghost and the Darkness', the first 'Wall Street', 'the China Syndrome' and 'Falling Down'.

I think Douglas is great in everything he does. And this is one of his very best movies. The problem with saying a certain role is someone's best though is that it's hard not to be influenced by the movie itself. For example, I love The Game but could care less for Wall Street. So I naturally would wanna say that this is his best. But i'm sure his performance was just as good in that film.

Michael Douglas even makes bad movies into good ones. I enjoyed "The War of the Roses" much more because of his presence.
