Richard Gere and Bruce Willis

SO i read in the trivia section that after this movie willis and gere vowed to not make another movie together.. is this because of hatred for each other?.. wtf?

reply

I had read somewhere that Richard Gere held up production a couple of times for personal reasons. When it was time to shoot scenes with Bruce, he would delay the production for a while before actually filming. Not sure if this is accurate but something along the lines of this is what may have caused the rift. It even annoyed Sidney.

He's OK to watch on screen if you can forget about the guy personally, but he does all sorts of unprofessional things to the director and other actors, from what I am told. That's why noone ever wants to work with him a second time.

Name someone (Anyone) male or female that has starred in a movie with him twice.

$20 million a movie? Even i'd put up with that twice, and i'm a guy!!!

hector elizondo, diane lane, julia roberts..

richard gere has mostly been part of romantic movies where he didnt have to share the space with another leading man..probably the other movies where he had to share the screen with another leadin man were Internal Affairs(Andy Garcia), Days Of Heaven(Sam Shephard) and if he was so hard to work with nobody would ever sign him up or probably no actor would agree to work with him..

Gentlemen. You can't fight in here. This is the War Room.

Richard Gere was terrible in this movie. His Irish accent was so generic.
I had a hard time believing his character.
"Day of the Jackal" is a 1000 % better movie.
Don't waste your time with this "remake". Watch the original..............

I agree with what John said. Also, Willis and Gere kinda have similar personalities in real life, both are kinda arrogant yet funny in their own way. Maybe those two personalities don't collide well...

I have never been to Ireland, though I worked as a waitress years ago in a retirement home. During that time I met many women from Ireland. I'd say Gere did a good Irish accent. He looked gorgeous in this movie! I just watched it last night for the 5th time probably. Very good movie. Personally I enjoyed both Gere and Willis.

As far as the "rift" between Willis and Gere is concerned, there wasn't one. All rumor folks. The guys had a running on set joke where they'd ask each other "hey, how's your movie going? My movie is going great." Because they didn't really work together and it seemed more like they were filming separate movies. Gere is not a difficult guy to work with. Val Kilmer is one actor who is rumored to be difficult. I have evn heard directors say they didn't want to work with him again. But, I love Val too.

It's on BBC 1 now, I've seen it before and thought it was alright, nothing special but entertaining still.

I think Gere's accent is believable enough although a bit generic like said previously - I think he'd have seemed more believable if he'd kept the stubble and goatee.

She's gone, baby. Gone!

lol I'm watching it on BB1 too although I missed about an hour or more so not too sure what is going on. Gere's accent is pretty good although I have noticed a few places in which he slips up a bit but I find it pretty believable and I am from Ireland.

I have to throw in the obvious one, Gere has worked with Diane Lane THREE times!
Cotten Club
Unfaithful
and that new horribly reviewed film Night in Rodanthe!
The Jackal remake is as mediocre as they come.
Also, I think Gere is a deeply underrated actor.
He was in-
Days of Heaven
Blood Brothers
American Gigolo
An Officer & a Gentleman
The Cotton Club
Internal Affairs
Primal Fear
Dr T & the Woman (misunderstood film)
Chicago
The Hoax
I'm Not There (as Bob Dylan!)
and Cindy Crawford

Plus he was really good in the maligned and also underrated remake of Breathless.

Most likely a rumor. Geres accent was fine in my opinon. If i was a director, id put up with his *beep* to have him in my flick. Same with kilmer. gere is underrated.
